Creating a poker website
Ok, so how does one begin to do a poker strategy website. Well before you can get going, you need to do a couple of simple steps.
-
Choose a name for your site
Not as easy as it sounds. All the obvious names are gone I’m afraid, so you are going to have use your imagination. Try to pick something that is easy to remember and that best describes what your site is all about. Take the name of this blog for example, it’s a fairly long name but I think it really describes the site well, and is not too difficult to remember either. You can check the availabity of your domain name on just about any host provider. I suggest you check the availabity of domain names before you get your heart too set on any one name, as unfortunately you may well find that many of the domain names you look for have already been taken.

Pick a host:
I use http://www.hostroute.co.uk for my domains. Why do I use them? To be honest basically because that’s who I registered my first domain with, and since then I haven’t had any problems with them. There probably are cheaper alternatives out there who would work just as well, but the cost of hosting a website is relatively low so basically I’m not bothering to fix what’s not broken. If you are starting out from scratch, there is no harm however in doing some research into getting a reasonably priced decent host provider. Make sure that your host is able to support CMS platforms such as WordPress, even if you plan to use a website development tool such as Dreamweaver or Microsoft Frontpage instead of a CMS, it would still be a good idea to make sure your host is able to support those CMS platforms since it’s a good indication of the quality of the host. In order to support these CMS platforms, your host will need to provide amongst other things, support for PHP and MySQL, the good news is these days most host providers do indeed have support for these, but you still need to make sure of this prior to choosing your host.
